Lalo was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on February 2, 1943, to Maximino (Max) Murino and Maria Luz Cortez Perez. He met, fell in love and married his wife of 54 years, Elvira (Vera) Garcia Perez on May 16, 1964. After 10 years of marriage, they welcomed their son William Garcia Perez on February 14, 1974. Their daughter, Monica Garcia Velez, followed six years later, on December 25, 1979.
The family of four made their home in Round Rock, Texas close to family and friends. Lalo started his own landscaping business (E.C. Perez Landscaping) in the early 80’s, of which he ran successfully for more than 25 years.
Lalo had a love of building things – starting many projects around their home. He also had a love of animals, bringing home orphaned animals from job sites from time to time, but his most precious pet was named Paco – a beloved Chihuahua of more than 10 years. In his day, you could find Lalo enjoying a beer (Miller Lite) and shooting the breeze. He enjoyed gambling, from lotto tickets to playing poker – always relishing in his winnings.
He and his wife were both dedicated parishioners of St. William’s Catholic Church in Round Rock, Texas, where they were married in May of 1964. You could find Lalo and Vera each Sunday in the same pew at the 11:30 a.m. Mass.
Lalo is survived by his two children and their spouses, William Perez and wife Jessica, Monica Velez and husband Erik; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Elias Andrés Velez and Vera Marie Velez. He is preceded in death by his grandchild Andrés Thiago Velez and wife Vera Perez.
Although Lalo suffered from dementia – a disease that progressed over the last few years of his life – his heartache for his bride of more than 54 years affected him most. And now, he has reunited with her in Heaven.
