

Eustacio Galvan, age 73, of Austin died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 13, 2004, with his wife and children by his side. He was born in Austin, Texas on March 29, 1931. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1955 and was honorably discharged. He attended the University of Texas where he graduated from the College of Pharmacy in 1959. After graduation he moved to Galveston Island and joined the pharmacy staff of The University of Texas Medical Branch. In 1969, he was appointed Director of Pharmacy at UTMB where he dedicated his career to the advancement of hospital pharmacy. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor for the College of Pharmacy at both The University of Texas and The University of Houston. He served as President of The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists from 1971-1972 and also served as Director for TSHP Research and Education Foundation. He retired in 1993 after 34 years of dedicated service to UTMB. He was an avid competitive runner and had a boundless and unconditional love for his family. His zest for life was an inspiration to all. He is survived by his wife of 14, 734 days (40 years), Josefina R. Galvan; daughters, Cecilia M. Rohloff and husband Mark; Cristina Galvan and fiancé Oscar Lopez, all of Austin; son, Fernando M. Galvan, of Honolulu, HI.; brothers, Jesse Galvan and wife Del, of Garland, TX.; Julio C. Galvan and wife Pilar, of Manchaca, TX.; granddaughters, Brittany Marie Rohloff, and Mary Catherine Rohloff; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Viewing hours will be on Sunday, May 16, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral home from 1:00 P.M.- 5:00 P.M.. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M.. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M. following the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 17, 2004, at St. Pauls Catholic Church with Father Paul F. McCallum officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
