Evelyn’s greatest gift was her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for gardening, decorating, and cooking. She never met a stranger; everyone was a friend. Throughout her fight with cancer she always maintained a positive attitude and had a deep gratitude for her caregivers. Her faith grew stronger and deeper throughout her illness, as did her love for her family and friends.
Evelyn is predeceased by her mother and father, Clarence and Emily Barrios, her brother, C.J. Barrios, and her sister, Arlene Hymel. She is survived by her sister, Charlene Clay; her four children, Zane (Melanie), Kevin (Gaynell), Shelly (Dave), and Nathan; her grandchildren, Abby, Ashley, Hannah, Lindsey, Will Will, Korey, Kayla, and Blake, all of whom she was so very proud.
The family is especially grateful to Dr. Punit Chadha, Pam Garza, the entire staff at Texas Oncology, and Hospice Austin, especially her nurses, Teri and Lisa.
On Friday, April 9, 2021, a 10:00 A.M. vigil and rosary; 10:30 A.M. visitation and an 11:00 A.M. memorial mass will all be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, located at 5455 Bee Cave Road in Austin, Texas, 78746. Father Jim Evens will be officiating.
