

Fae Beaman Schacherl, 88, passed away on August 20, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. Born Fae Annette Beaman on July 26, 1922 in the Beat Five area of Giddings, Texas, she lived a long and fruitful life. Fae was a warm, charming and gracious person who enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, bowling, reading and an occasional margarita. Her greatest love however was spending time with friends and family. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife and mother. Fae was deeply religious and long time member of Crestview Methodist Church in Austin. She volunteered for numerous charitable organizations and was always quick to assist those in need. Fae was known for making friends for life. Over the years, she continued to stay in touch with her long time friends and work associates known affectionately as the “birthday group”, “bridge club”, “highway group” and “sewing club”. Despite experiencing the tragedy of losing her father in 1933 and the hardship of growing up during The Great Depression, Fae excelled at school and was a popular student-athlete, graduating near the top of the Giddings High School class of 1940. Two months later, Fae moved to Austin to attend Nixon-Clay Commercial College and was quickly hired by the Texas Highway Department in June of 1941. Based on exceptional performance, she rapidly received numerous promotions culminating with being named the Executive Administrative Assistant to the State Highway Engineer to the Highway Department for the last 17 years of her career. She retired in 1984 after 43 years of service to the great State of Texas. Fae met her husband, Harry Schacherl in Austin at a local volleyball game in 1949. They soon began dating and were married on October 20, 1951, enjoying a long and happy life together of over 58 years. After their marriage, Fae was quickly and lovingly embraced by the greater Schacherl family and participated in countless Christmas’s, holidays, reunions and other joyful family gatherings, many of which were held at Fae’s ancestral family farm near Giddings. Fae and Harry were members of Saengerrunde Dance Hall and enthusiastically participated in numerous dances and social activities.
Fae was preceded in death by her father Norman Beaman, mother Annie Stueber Beaman, sister Ouida Beaman Stinson, brother Dale Beaman, brother Jim Beaman, brother Sherman Beaman and grandson Erich Schacherl. Fae is survived by husband Harry Schacherl, son Bob Schacherl, daughter-in-law Carol Wade Schacherl, grandson David Schacherl and numerous nieces and nephews in Texas and California. The family would like to acknowledge Vickery Towers Senior Living facility in Dallas, Texas for their exceptional care of Fae during the last few years of her life. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday the 25th of August, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas. The funeral service is to be conducted at seven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 25th of August, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas
