Fay Norris died peacefully May 1, 2006 in the presence of family after 100 years of wonderful life. She was born October 25, 1905 in Mansfield, Texas. Her youth was spent riding her pony on the New Mexico line that bordered her familys ranch, playing basketball and playing ragtime piano at dances in the Panhandle. After meeting her future husband, R. H. Norris, Jr. in Childress and having one son, Robert H. Norris III, they eventually relocated to Dallas where she lived most of her adult life. Her efforts on the golf course yielded many trophies including two holes-in-one. She relocated to Austin in 1985 to serve as an inspiration to 2 more generations. Her family will miss the lemon chess pies, cinnamon rolls, ragtime piano and hugs tight enough to snap you in two. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. H. Norris, Jr., her parents and siblings as well as most of her long time friends. She is missed by her son, Robt. H. Norris III; daughter-in law, Gara Norris, both of Austin; granddaughter, Sabrina McDonald of Portland, OR; grandson, Robt. H. Norris IV of Austin; 4 great grandchildren that are shootin up like weeds; and close friend for 5 decades, Electa Payne of Dallas. Her family wishes to thank staff at the Summit Northwest and Westminster Manor, especially Elisha Nelson-Nash for the tender care they provided when she needed it the most. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, May 12, 2006 at 3 pm in the mausoleum chapel at the Capitol Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
