

He retired from the Laredo Independent School District as an Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. His career as an educator span 43 years. Fred also was the Chairman of the Board for the Laredo Federal Teacher's Credit Union for 21 years, which he did pro bono. He was instrumental in opening a second credit union location. He had previously served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from St. Edwards University with a degree in Chemistry. He received his Masters in Education and Administration from Southwest Texas State University. He loved to travel, hunt, cook “carne asada”, read and listen to music by Frank Sinatra, Vikki Carr, and Jose Alfredo Jimenez. He was a passionate Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and University of Texas Longhorn football fan.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Amparo Reyna, first wife Isabel Martinez Reyna, and his sister Bertha R. Sanchez (Armando). He is survived by his loving wife Raquel Rodarte Reyna, sons Fred R. Reyna III (Valerie), James A. Stockwell Reyna (Adriana), daughters Christina R. Reyna Baird, and Larena M. Reyna, sister Esther R. Boubel (Ambrose), and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many health care givers who provided Fred with special care and attention: Davita South Austin Dialysis Center including Ron, Ginnie, John, and technicians Martha, Riza, Adora and Joey, Robinson Creek healthcare givers, specifically Cristen his nurse, St. David’s South Hospital nurses and aides, West Oak Rehabilitation Center staff, and personal physicians: Dr. Ragesh Shetty, Dr. Matthew Meeneghan, Dr. Dieter Martin, Dr. Steve Lewitton, Dr. Malika Vinta, and Dr. Catherine Wu.
His wife, Raquel thanks the loving and caring neighbors who helped with his care.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, 725 FM 967, Buda, Texas, 78610 with The Rev. Daniel P. Strandlund, officiating.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 5:30 P.M., Friday, December 1, 2017 at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1704 Sandman Street, Laredo, Texas, 78041, with Msgr. Alejandro Salazar, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in his name to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
