

Francis "Fran" Dickson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died February 22, 2010 in Sioux Falls. She was 77. Fran was born October 26, 1932, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Arthur and Edith (Caine) Bayer. She was raised in Sioux Falls, where she attended public schools. She moved to Centerville, South Dakota, at the age of 17. Fran was united in marriage to Earl J. Dickson on April 10, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Through the years, Earl was a member of three branches of the armed forces, Army, Navy, and Air Force. As a result of his service, the family traveled throughout the entire globe, living in Azores, US bases in North Carolina and California and Japan. Following Earl's retirement from the service in 1974, they moved to Austin, Texas. Fran began her career with Motorola. She retired in 1989, after 18 1/2 years with the company. Earl was preceded in death on December 3, 2002. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Fran enjoyed bowling, arts and crafts, ceramics, and going to dances, and adored her four legged friends, Molly and Katie. In the center of her life was her family. Survivors include her son, Richard Dickson and wife Terre of Cedar Creek, Texas; daughters, Roberta Spoonemore, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rochelle Marks, Navarre, Florida; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Andrea Dickson, Rebeca, Tommy, Catherine Marks, Bonnie Ochoa, Jody Garza; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Smook, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
