

FRANK E. RUNDELL, born in Austin, Texas, December 12, 1925, passed away peacefully June 23, 2003, with his wife Janey at his side. Mr. Rundell was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Dell Rundell and Merton R. Rundell. Frank is survived by his wife, Janey, and his sons, Frank Edwin Rundell, Jr. and wife Martha, Don Martin Rundell, and wife Micki, grandchildren, Natalie, Neal, James and Drew. Frank is survived by his stepsons and families, Kyle and Roe Sharon Hughes, Craig and Molly Hughes and grandchildren, Kelsey, Preston, Jackson, Will and Sam Hughes. Frank is also survived by his sister, Lillian Tate, of Austin, and brother, Merton Rundell, Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL. Frank was a much loved and respected football and basketball coach, teacher and administrator. He taught and coached in Smithville, Cross Plains, Austin McCallum and Reagan High Schools, Hays Consolidated High School and Leander I.S.D. He considered his students "his kids" and his athletes "his boys", many of whom stayed in touch with him over the years. "Coach Rundell" spent several years coaching Little League baseball for West Austin Optimist. During the summers he was associated with the American Red Cross Water Safety program and also worked for the city of Austin PARD, managing the municipal pools. He earned a BBA from Baylor University and a Masters in Education Administration from the University of Texas, after serving during WII as a Bombadier-Navigator. Retiring to Wimberley, Frank loved to play "42", golf, fish and travel the Texas Hill Country. The family wishes to thank Dr. George Robison, Susan Allen, FNP and the compassionate staff of Gracy Woods II Living Center, who made this long journey a little easier. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association/Capital of Texas Chapter of Gracy Woods II Living Center's Employees Christmas Fund, in care of Janey Rundell. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
