FRANK LEWIS SCOFIELD Frank Lewis Scofield, age 88, of Austin passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2005. Frank was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 8, 1916. He grew up in Hillsboro, Texas in his own words, on the farm and ranch. Worked in the fields from sun up to sun down.. fresh vegetables.. beef and pork in the pastures, plenty of chickens and eggs, and all the milk, cream and butter we wanted. A rural upbringing created the tough and humble spirit that made him well liked and well respected as a student at the University of Texas, as a Public Accountant and as an attorney. From the University of Texas, he earned his BBA in1938 and his LLB in 1941. Sco began his career in government service with the IRS. During World War II , he served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Counter Espionage Division. In 1948 he was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and entered private practice. Scofield actively practiced law until 1981 and remained of counsel to the firm of Scofield & Scofield, P.C. until his death. He served as Mayor of Rollingwood from 1955-1960 assisting with much of the creation and development of that citys infrastructure. Frank Scofield was an active member of International Good Neighbors, and Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, but after his family and his work, his lifetime passion was University of Texas Football. For his 85th birthday, members of the Longhorn Band played a tribute to his loyalty by visiting him at home and playing the Fight Song and other UT favorites. The earliest photo of Frank Lewis Scofield shows a baby laughing heartily, even though barely old enough to sit up. He started life laughing and he never stopped. Even when ill, he delighted us all with his tall tales and other shenanigans. His birthday words, Ive lived 85 years on Gods earth, and Ive enjoyed every minute of it.
