

FRANKIE CORDELIA MAVERICK Frankie Cordelia Maverick, 103, passed away Saturday, October 18, at 12:10 a.m. at The Summit at West Lake where she had been recovering from a fall. Frankie was born September 14, 1900, in Galveston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel A. and Frankie C. Maverick, and her brother, Samuel A. Maverick, Jr. She was graduated from Ball High School, Galveston, in 1917 and received her B.S. degree from Texas Womans University, then CIA, in 1921, and an M.S. in 1951 from the University of Texas. She attended the University of New York at Washington Square and the University of Washington in Seattle. A devout Episcopalian, she treasured her membership in St. Davids Episcopal Church in Austin and in the Betty Gilmer Guild. An avid traveler, she was well acquainted with all fifty of the United States, virtually all of Mexico, and most of the provinces of Canada, including the Yukon. She had interesting times in independent travel in Guatemala, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas. She traveled some seven times to thirteen countries of Europe. She also visited Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Funeral rites will be held at St. Davids Episcopal Church, San Jacinto and East Seventh Streets, Austin, on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the Weed Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar.
