Franklin D. “Woody” Wood, 80, resident of Austin, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Pflugerville, Texas. He was born on March 31, 1933 in Hermleigh, Texas to William Walter “Bill” Wood and Eunice “Kid-O” Rogers Wood. Woody served as an MP in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in England. He was employed by American Airlines as a Load Planner in the Ground Operations Department for over 25 years and retired in 1993.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Kenneth Wood and Billy Wood. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Wanda Jean Wood; son, Danny R. Wood; daughter, Vickie D. Curtis; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Dr. Ken Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow the services at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
Honoring Woody as pallbearers will be Conor Izzett, Dennis Lilley, Keith Huff, Terry Morrow, Gary Lamb, and Tommy Morrow.
