Born in Austin, July 23rd, 1946, Fred grew up in Tarrytown on Lake Austin. As a boy, he lived a life not unlike that of Huck Finn, fishing with his brother, Tom, and playing marbles in the schoolyard. Later, he ran cross-country and played basketball at Austin High School, where he became the president of his senior class. He was an avid golfer, and loved to play at Lyon’s Municipal and the Austin Country Club. He was a graduate of The University of Texas and a practicing CPA in Westlake. An avid sports fan, especially of Westlake High School and U.T. athletics, his home was a haven for generations of family and friends to get together and enjoy sporting events. In his lifetime, Fred earned the love and respect of a large contingent of friends and family with his charming personality, his honesty, and his easygoing disposition. He shared 42 years of marriage with the love of his life, Nancy Leggett Clark. To his three boys he exemplified strength, grace, and wisdom. His keen sense of humor, outstanding storytelling ability, and lively conversation will be missed by all. Following the death of his parents, Fred became the patriarch of the extended family. In addition to family already mentioned, those who survive him are his brother John and wife Janet; his sister, Terry; his brother, Tom; his brother Ed and wife Mary; his grandchildren, Preston, Brandon, Hayden, and Ashley; and his many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, 7127 Bee Caves Road, on Thursday, July 8th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m.
