

Early Life and Service
Born on June 19, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, Fred was the son of Walter and Dorothy Thomas. A proud native of Toledo, he graduated from Toledo Scott High School. Fred served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. His time in the service instilled in him a lifelong discipline and a strength that defined his character. After the war, Fred continued his education at The University of Toledo and majored in Electrical Engineering.
Career and Family
In 1961, Fred married Joyce. A year later, the couple moved to Findlay, Ohio, which became home for 19 years. Professionally, Fred was a pioneer in his field. As an early Semiconductor Engineer, he enjoyed a distinguished career with industry leader RCA and Motorola. It was his decision to grow in his career that led him to move the family to Austin, Texas in 1980.
Personal Passions
Beyond his professional achievements, Fred was a man of simple and enduring joys. He was a devoted dog lover and also loved the energy of Las Vegas. He cherished family gatherings, where he always had a joke and smile. Fred was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St Catherine of Siena. He also loved to support charities.
Survivors and Precedents
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Thomas, his parents, Walter and Dorothy and daughter-in-law, Kim Thomas. He is survived by his five sons and their families, who carry on his legacy: Don (Juanita), Mike (Yen), Fred (Reatha), Greg (Anh) , Mark (Cathy) and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
