Gary Makelki

He is survived by his fiancé, Joyce Hogan; sister, Jo Ann Makelki Nelson, Houston, Texas; brother Daniel Makelki and wife Linda, Corpus Christi, Texas; niece, Jennifer Nelson, Houston,

Texas; and nephews: Robert Nelson, Houston, Texas; Steven Makelki, Kingwood, Texas; and Jonathan Makelki and wife Maura and two great-nephews, Port Neches, Texas. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mildred Makelki and his younger brother, Peter James Makelki.

Gary served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a graduate of Trinity University and received his Masters of Education from Southwest Texas State University. He retired from the Austin Police Department where he worked as a Psychologist.

He will be greatly missed for his great sense of humor and his wise words of "counseling." He enjoyed his dogs, loved fishing, sailing, and riding his motorcycle.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
