George J. Gilmore, 78, TSGT Retired, of Austin passed away October 27, 2008. George was born in Orono, Maine, on April 4, 1930. He graduated from Old Town High School in Maine, then served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 20 years active duty to live and work in Austin. George was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle, watching football games, collecting toys, and dancing. George was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eva Ducas Gilmore, sister Evelyn Gilmore Belanger, and brothers Francis and Edmund Gilmore, all of Maine; and Hester Lane Gilmore, his first wife. George is survived by his wife, Ruth; his step-children: Radford Lane and wife Betty of Midland, Texas; Margery Lowrey of Webb City, Missouri; Nancy Taylor Crimm and husband Bill of Georgetown; Elizabeth Laurence of Richardson; nieces and nephews: Gary, Mike, Francis and Julie of Maine; numerous step-grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; and many good friends. George "Gee" was a kind, sweet, fun-loving, and unimposing gentleman who was loved by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel.
