

Gina Elyse Mundy, born on Saturday, February 5, 1955, in Cameron, Texas, passed away in her home in Austin TX on 03/16/2025. She was the cherished second daughter and second child of Herbert Landis Mundy and Carrie Belle Nettles Shea.
Gina's journey began in Cameron, and her formative years were spent first in Lexington Texas in her mother’s hometown and then later in Irving, Texas, where she graduated from Irving High School in 1973. In November 1987, she married Lewis Nelson Chizek.
In 1978, Gina graduated with a degree in Spanish and subsequently received a Rotary scholarship to study in Lima, Peru (1978-1979). Building on this foundation, she demonstrated technical proficiency as a Technician III at Schlumberger for over ten years (Dec 1989+). Her career culminated in nearly two decades of leadership as a Lead Software Quality Engineer at Builder Homesite Inc. in Austin, Texas (2001+), where her expertise and commitment were highly regarded.
Beyond her professional achievements, Gina possessed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her. She found joy in the gentle companionship of horses, nurtured vibrant gardens, and explored the wonders of diverse cultures through her travels.
Gina was a loving and devoted sister and daughter. She is survived by her sister, Gaye Goodwin, of Denton, Texas, and her stepfather, Carl Shea, of Copper Canyon, Texas.
Gina's passing was preceded by that of her beloved mother, Carrie Belle Nettles Shea, who passed away on March 5, 2025, just eleven days prior to Gina's own passing. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Shannon Mundy.
A visitation will be held March 28th at 6:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Drive Austin, Texas. A dual graveside service honoring the lives of Gina and her mother, Carrie, will be held on Saturday, March 29th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lexington Cemetery pavilion, located at 6057-6031 County Road 326, Lexington, TX 78947. Gina will be laid to rest alongside her mother, grandmother, and sister Shannon.
Following the graveside service, a lunch reception will be held at the Lexington United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 508 N. Rockdale St, Lexington, TX, where family and friends can gather to share memories and celebrate the lives of Gina and Carrie.
