On April 29, 2019, Carolyn (Ginger) Virginia Jones entered eternal life at the age of 73. Ginger was born on August 9, 1946 in Taylor, TX to Thomas and Nell Teer. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas University, and she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. In 1968, she married her soulmate, Bobby Jones, and together they raised 2 daughters (Dena and J.J.), and 1 son (Trey). Ginger was “Mamaw” to her 5 grandchildren (Nicholas, Trinity, Morgan, Savannah, and Jake). She is survived by extended family (daughter-in-law, Brittany Jones), (cousins, John Teer, Jill Teer), (nephew, Kevin Deike), and (brother-in-law, Levi Deike). She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Deike.
Ginger was a master cook, and she loved to read, sew, garden, day-trade, design and decorate her house, cheer on the Texas Aggies, and travel with her two best friends (Linda and MaryLynn).
We were blessed to learn many things from Ginger, including: 1) When throwing a dinner party, make enough food (from scratch) for a small army. 2) To get noticed around town, drive a huge, flashy Hummer. 3) To be an amazing mother, attend every game, match, and tournament, and cheer like it’s the first time you’ve ever seen one. 4) To be an amazing grandmother, refer back to #3. 5) To be an amazing wife, be a best friend. 6) And, to be a happy person, be curious and interested in just about everything, and look at life through the lens of “fun.”
