

Born on March 24, 1943 in Lexington, Kentucky, Glen was the son of Glen, Sr. and Mary (Heizer) Shepherd. His parents preceded him in death.
Glen’s professional life began in 1964 when he went to work for Texas Instruments in Versailles, KY. Glen and his wife, Janet, moved to Garland, TX where Glen attended S.M.U. in Dallas, while working at T.I., where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a 3.7 GPA. In 1979, they moved from Garland, TX to Johnson City, TN, living there until 1992, when they moved to Austin, TX. While living in Austin, Glen took early retirement from T.I. and went to work for Solectron, which had bought the contract manufacturing division from T.I. Solectron was later bought by Flextronics and Glen continued to work for them until his death. Glen had many patents over his professional career, and trained and taught many young engineers.
Glen enjoyed fishing and camping with his family on Lake Travis.
Glen is survived by his wife, Janet, of 44 years, their son, Glen Shepherd III and his wife, Shannon. Glen also has 3 living grandchildren; Glen IV, August, and Emelia; and one deceased grandson, Louis. Glen has one living niece, Lisa L. Martin of Lafayette, CA and husband Carl and their children Blake and Ashley, along with her step-father, Doug Goad, of Encinitas, CA. They are the family of his sister, Sarann Goad, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Michael Nantz and his wife, Elaine, along with 2 nephews, Greg and Jeff Nantz of Lexington, KY.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Dr. Austin, TX.
