

Gloria Kieschnick went to be with our Lord on July 12, 2011 while residing in Lighthouse at Altenheim, a hospice care facility, after a long hospital battle with multiple health problems that slowly drained all her strength.
She was born April 17, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Ernest Overton and Martha Mager Overton and was the older of two siblings.
She graduated from John Sealy in Galveston as an RN and married Harry Paul Kieschnick on August 2, 1946 in Port Arthur, Texas. Gloria worked as an RN until her first grandchild was born, after which she retired from nursing to take care of him. She played the accordion, piano and was very crafty. She was very active in church work and volunteer work, especially for the Lutheran Blind Workshop and the Bethesda Home.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Paul Kieschnick 1997.
She is survived by daughter Carol Anne Kieschnick of Austin and grandson Christopher Paul Hillen of Marfa; son David Paul Kieschnick, daughter-in-law Cheryl Kieschnick, granddaughter Amber Kieschnick Parkman, and great-granddaughter Leeanna Parkman all of Elgin; brother Glen Overton and sister-in-law Dorothy Overton of Lago Vista; and brother-in-law Clyde Defrates of Beaumont, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, North Lamar. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16th at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 West Anderson Lane (www.redeemer.net 512-459-1500).
