Gloria Gail Moore

Gloria G. Moore, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2009 in Austin, Texas. She was born on April 3, 1927, in Deadwood, Texas, to Russell and Annie Mae Hughes but moved to Austin shortly thereafter. As a lifelong resident who was raised near Downtown Austin, she had fond memories of Austin's war-time glory years working as a teenager at Lockhart's Creamery and walking down the Avenue. Gloria met and married the love of her life, Leo F. Moore, Jr. on March 28, 1944. She was a doting wife and mother of two daughters. Leo and Gloria remained devoted to each other throughout 54 years of marriage until his passing in 1998. Gloria moved to Kyle, Texas, late last summer to be near her loving family. Gloria is survived by daughter, Patricia Abram; son-in-law, Art; daughter, Corrine Moore; and Jason Abram, her only grandchild. To mourn her passing, she leaves behind four sisters, Laurene Hinnen, Reese Welch, Maydell Schiller and Joanne Ayers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also missing Gloria are her beloved cats Jude, Callie and Cheyenne. Visitation will be Sunday, March 22, 2009, 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish South. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009, at Speir Cemetery, Elgin, Texas, with Reverend Charles Long officiating.
