

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Harmon “Daren” Smith. Daren passed away unexpectedly at 54 years old on Sunday, January 14, 2024 in Austin, TX. Daren was born on February 14, 1969 in Odessa Texas to Jeanette Ward McAnally and Harmon Duke Smith. The family relocated to Austin, Texas when he was an infant. He was a lifelong resident of Austin, Texas. He attended school in the Round Rock ISD and graduated from Westwood High School in 1987. Daren attended Texas State University for a few years and graduated with a BA in Business from the University of Houston. He returned to Austin to practice Real Estate and Business Development. For several years, he has been self-employed as a freelance Marketing Agent.
Daren had a passion for baking delicious desserts and constantly trying new recipes. He was an avid music lover; some of his favorites were Madonna and Lady Gaga. Always had his tunes playing. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, kind, and compassionate heart. Daren was a true-to-the-bone Austinite, enjoying the lakes, the natural beauty of Austin, and the culinary experiences.
Daren always had a soft spot and a warm lap for Pippa and Jaxx, his furry family.
Daren was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vera Smith of Odessa, TX, and Barney and Ginny Ward of Odessa, TX. Stepfather, Mike McAnally of Austin, TX.
Daren is survived by his mother, Jeanette McAnally. Father, Harmon Smith and wife Wilda Smith. Sister, Karolyn Meuth, husband Edward Meuth, children Andrew, and wife Allie Wallace, Matthew Wallace, and Trey Wallace. Sister, Cortney Brown, husband Taylor Brown, children Presley Brown and Easton Brown. Stepbrother, Brett McAnally and wife Chrissy, children Anthony Steward, Nick Woodyard, Emalee McAnally and Jake McAnally. Stepsister, Suzanne McAnally, children Ally Anderson, Hannah Anderson, and Doak Anderson. Beloved family member, Marian Mansperger.
Countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and close friends also survive Daren.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date to honor Daren.
