

Irvine, Harry B., April 25, 1925 – September 28, 2008. Harry Irvine, a resident of Austin, Texas and former resident of Los Angeles, California passed away Sunday, September 28th at the age of 83. Born in Plevna, Montana, Harry was the 5th of 6 children. His siblings, Ted, Dick, Jim, Jeannette and Fred as well as his beloved wife, Elaine, have passed before him. Harry had an illustrious career in the U.S. Navy and then an outstanding second career in Investment Management Services with Citigroup Smith Barney and its predecessor company, E.F. Hutton. Harry had 29 years of service with the U.S. Navy where he progressed from naval aviator, through carrier based fighter pilot to the ranks of Full Commander where he served in important operations as a Combat Information Officer for the USS ONSLOW and Navigator for the USS BENNINGTON. His duties included being Plans Officer with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in Washington D.C. as well as Executive Officer of the Naval Air Station, Atsugi, Japan. At Citigroup Smith Barney Harry progressed from Account Executive to Senior Vice President. The firm created an award in 1990, the "Harry B. Irvine" award in his honor which was given each year to the Financial Advisor "who demonstrates the highest ethics and the greatest commitment to assuring that his or her clients continue to achieve their long term goals." Harry will be missed. He is survived by his two daughters, Jill and Cynthia; his son, Mark; 5 grandchildren; 19 nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 11:00 a.m. on October 11th at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
