Jack was born on December 31, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas to Charlie and Edith Duke. He spent all but the last two years of his life in San Antonio when he and Connie moved to Austin to be closer to their children. In years past, Jack loved spending weekends and vacations at the family ranch where he taught his children about wildlife, hunting, horses, and nature. During his early retirement he enjoyed traveling to Europe where he expanded his knowledge and appreciation of fine Continental art and antiques. In the early 1980s, he and Connie began a tradition of spending the fall and winter season of each year on the beach at the Texas coast entertaining friends and family during the holidays. The Duke family would like to express our deep thanks to the staff members and nurses of Hospice-Austin, The Medical Team, and Christopher House. We would like to individually thank Jacks personal home caregivers, Paula, Jill, Sharon, Betty, Diane, Harold, Jack, Kelly, Patty, and Nikki. In lieu of flowers we ask that Memorial gifts be sent to Hospice Austin. Jack requested that his ashes be spread facing west from the highest hill on the ranch he loved so dearly. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave. San Antonio, Texas 78212. Obituary and guestbook on line at wcfish.com
