

Helen June McKnight, 89 of Austin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
Helen was born July 24, 1924 in McAlester, Okla. to Andrew H. and Jewell G. Cole. Helen's parents provided a home rich in love of God, life, music and each other. Helen met the love of her life James H. McKnight, Jr. during high school in Fort Worth; they dated before and after his war service and married Aug 30, 1946. She and Jim were inseparable for over 62 years of marriage. Helen worked as an executive secretary various years of her life. Her true love and dedication were to her family. She provided a loving, secure home for her children and spouse. She was very involved in her children's school activities and education. Helen always had the door open for her children's friends and later her grandchildren and their friends. After retirement, one of Helen's greatest passions was to accompany her husband on car trips across Texas and the US. Helen attended North Texas University majoring in Art and Music. Helen's passion was music, particularly classical and opera. She was a member of the Sicilian Club of Fort Worth and performed in the Fort Worth Opera. Helen enjoyed volunteering to sing as a soloist at various church choirs in Fort Worth & was an excellent pianist.
Helen was a patriot who loved America. She was a proud conservative Republican and one hobby was "debating" political ideas. She was generous with her time and support to religious and other causes she strongly supported.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Houston McKnight, Jr. in 2010.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Kaye Boetman of Austin; son, James H. McKnight III & wife E. Denise McKnight of Colleyville; Grandsons, Gerald T. Bramlett and his daughter Gisele, Matthew C. Bramlett and wife Kim and their son Neo, and Jacob N. Bramlett all of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Wednesday April 30, 2014 in the chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Interment will be 3:00pm Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Greenwood Memorial Park in Ft. Worth Texas.
