

Helen was born to Luke and Prudie Loper Hinton on August 23, 1910, in Valley Mills, Texas.
Helen married Lewis Vernon Simmonds on July 29, 1928. Rev. Simmonds was a Baptist minister, and Helen served faithfully as a ministers wife. She served her church as well as being a full-time homemaker and mother.
She loved to be surrounded by her large family. Her greatest hobby was knitting. Every member of her family, as well as many friends, have beautiful afghans, etc. made by Granny, as she was affectionately known by all who loved her.
Her parents; brother, Andrew Bailey Hinton; sister, Edith Lyle Blount; infant son, Bobby Don Simmonds; son-in-law, Jack M. Simons, Sr.; and husband, Lewis Vernon Simmonds, Sr. preceded her in death.
Surviving family includes daughters, Helen Jean Morgan and husband, Bob, Joyce Ann Simons, and Sue Beth Bendele and husband, Gerald; sons, Lewis Vernon Simmonds, Jr. and wife, Pat, and James Hinton Simmonds and wife, Phyllis; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
The family thanks Meals-on-Wheels for their kindness and thoughtfulness.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, Reverend Bob Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, Austin, Texas.
