

Helene E. Jackson departed this life on January 13, 2009 in Austin, Texas. She was born June 21, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Fort Worth in 1944. Services: Visitation: Friday January 16th at 12:00 Noon, Greenwood Garden Chapel, Fort Worth, Texas Service: 1:00 PM, Greenwood Garden Chapel with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Frank Jackson, William Jackson, Mike Regan, John Frazier, Sean Gregory, Bud Willy and Ken Willy. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Presbyterian Church, Generation to Generation Fund, 11512 Olson Drive, Austin, 78750 or Odyssey Health Care 4201 W. Parmer Lane, Suite 100 Bldg C. Austin, Texas 78727. Helene moved to Fort Worth in 1944 living with her sister and attending Arlington Heights High School. Upon graduation from Arlington Heights she went to work for American Airlines at Meacham Field where she met her husband to be Bobby Jackson. Their first date included dinner at Joe T Garcia's Mexican Restaurant in Fort Worth. Joe T Garcia's held many memories for Helene and Bobby including family celebrations, anniversaries, college graduations, birthdays and weddings. They announced their engagement on Christmas Eve 1945 and were married October 12, 1946. When celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary, Bobby reflected on their years of marriage and expressed his desire to celebrate another 50 years with the newest Texan. To commemorate the occasion Governor Rick Perry signed a proclamation honoring Helene as an Honorary Texan. Bobby presented her with the proclamation and a yellow rose and proudly introduced Helene as his yellow rose. Helene and Bobby enjoyed traveling abroad. Some of their most memorable trips included cruises to Alaska, Italy and Russia to mention a few. Helene was active in the Women's Circle Group at Oakhurst Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and helped with various youth groups. She was a past President of Oakhurst Elementary PTA and a former member of the Fort Worth African Violet Society where she once won "Best of Show". Helene was a homemaker, beloved mother and wife. Through encouragement and love she supported her husband and children in all their endeavors. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby, parents William and Christine Gable sister Edna Willy and her best friend Dorothy Huffman. Survivors: Children: Kay Jackson Frazier, Linda and Mike Regan, Frank and Suzanne Jackson, William and Kimberly Jackson, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nephews: Bud Willy and Ken Willy. Niece: Karen Wynn and other family members and friends.
