

Herman Christian (Sonny) Becker Herman Christian (Sonny) Becker died on September 10th, at the Retirement and Nursing Center, Austin Texas. Sonny was born on June 15th, 1919 in Encinal, Texas to Herman C. Becker and Margaret Herbst Becker. The family moved to Coupland and then to Elgin, Texas. They later moved to Austin. He retired from the Post Office and the 36th Division, Texas National Guard. During WWII Sonny served in the Navy and was stationed at Pelalue. Sonny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gwen Rogers Becker, son Donald and wife Barbara, daughters Emily and husband Joe Prien, Amy and husband Edward Katkic. Grandchildren Jaclyn and husband Steve Wisner, Craig Katkic, Joey Prien, Sammy, Jon and Shelbi Payne, Tara and Dusty Prien, great grandchildren Elisabeth Wisner and Lenny Gross. Brother Otto Werchan and wife Shirley and sisters Laura Dixon, Emma Jean Stewart and husband Jack and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elsie Turner and brother Andrew Becker. Visitation will be from 3:00 5:00 p.m. on September 12th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on September 13th at 10:00 am at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, with the Reverends John McMullen, Kathleen Jones, Bobbi Kaye Jones and Mimi Rapier officiating.Burial will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. Pallbearers are Gene Swanberg, Ken Hensley, Karl Schlessinger, Quincy Adams, Craig Katkic, and Jon Payne. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Madison, Bill Furman, Ed Renker, Ben Spath, Rick Russell and Howard Allen. The family wants to thank the staff of RNC for the loving care they gave to Sonny and to the Aseracare Hospice for their care.
