Hollis was born May 31, 1961, in Hong Kong and was a much loved daughter to parents Ko Kin Lo and Lai Ying Leung.
She attended Holy Family Canossian School, and then later graduated from high school at Belilios Public School in Hong Kong. Hollis came to the USA in 1984, enrolling in the University of Texas at Austin, and graduating in 1987, with a BA in Computer Science. Hollis then attended Purdue University, completing an MS in Computer Science in 1989. She became a US citizen in 1995.
Her first job after college was with Oracle Corporation in the Silicon Valley area of California. The Application Group recruited Hollis away from Oracle three years later. Within a few years, Hollis had become one of the most sought-after consultants in the deployment and use of Oracle-based applications. She became an independent consultant and was constantly in demand, working at a variety of companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Several years later, she was recruited by a startup company to assist them in building an advanced data archiving system. Hollis joined Hewlett-Packard Corporation when HP acquired the startup. In later years, Hollis left high-tech and engaged in a range of entrepreneurial activities, from home remodeling to light therapy systems and real estate investment.
Hollis is survived by her son, London Sheppard and his father Gene Sheppard; mother, Lai Ying Leung; and her siblings, Sing Pun Lo, Kit Ching Lo, Sing Kai Lo, and Man Ching Lo. You are forever in our hearts.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 3:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2017. All are invited to a gathering immediately following for food and fellowship in the Reception Room at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks.
