

Hugh Carroll Rushing, Jr. Hugh Carroll Rushing, Jr. passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004 in Austin, TX at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife Elaine, his daughter Meg and son-in-law Brian Coffee, his sister Scherrie Hester and family, his mother-in-law Mickey Robinson, his brother-in-law Martin Robinson and family, and many caring friends. He will be remembered by all for his love, honesty, and warm sense of humor. Hugh Rushing was born on January 2, 1936 in Hope, AR. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1954 and attended the University of Arkansas, Fayettville. In 1961, he earned a business degree from Texas Tech University, and married Elaine Robinson. He and his family moved to Austin in 1971 where he owned and operated Gorbet Lawn Sprinkler Company for almost thirty years. He was appreciated by his loyal customers and employees for his personal attention, kindness, and understanding. He was an active member and past president of the Austin Lawn Sprinkler Association, Texas Turf Irrigation Association, and the West Austin Rotary Club. In 2002 he was honored with the Lifetime Membership Award by the Austin Lawn Sprinkler Association. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Barton Cemetery in Buda, TX.
