Iola Tyler Adams

Iola Adams ran into the arms of Jesus on January 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Henry Adams February 8, 2016, her grandson Jonathan Reyes, and her great-granddaughter AnnMarie Palacios. Iola is survived by her five children, Billy, David, Don, and Steve Adams and Julie Reyes, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Iola was born in Shelby County, Texas to Runnie Mae Taylor and Captain Otis Tyler and spent most of her childhood years as a migrant worker throughout Texas. Iola accepted Jesus into her heart one fall, at the age of 13 years old at Mount Hermann Missionary Baptist Church in San Augustine County. Her grandfather was Reverend Porter Baker Tyler and she had attended a revival service, where she walked to the service bare-footed. She was baptized the following spring.

In her early twenties, she met and married Bill Adams in Bryan, Texas. Soon after, they moved to Sweetwater, Abilene, and years later to El Paso where they lived for over 25 years. During her time in El Paso, Iola was able to complete her high school diploma and earn her GED, and her family celebrated her accomplishments! In the 1980’s, Bill and Iola moved to Dripping Springs.

Iola was a very talented seamstress and made many beautiful clothes. She was had a very tender heart towards children. She worked in day care nurseries loving on and caring for babies and when she wasn’t doing that, she took care of them in her home. She was known to so many children lovingly as Granny Iola.

Iola opened her home up to anyone who needed a place to stay, and always sought out ways to serve others. She was an active member in her Sunday School class, The Silver Saints, and she loved them all dearly. Iola loved to visit with her friends, her children and grandchildren. Iola enjoyed reading as well as completing seek-and-find puzzles.

A celebration of Iola’s life will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at First Baptist Church Dripping Springs, 203 W Hwy 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620s.

Viewing will begin at 1pm and service at 1:30. Interment will be at Phillips Cemetery, Ranch Road 12 South, Dripping Springs following the funeral service.
