She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Chavez of Austin, TX; sister, Mary Rodriguez of Odessa, TX; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Irma was married to her husband Robert for 26 years. She lived in Austin for the past 50 years and worked for Travis County for 28 years. Irma was very active in the church. She was a member of St Julia’s Church and most recently a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Irma served as Eucharist Minister, Youth Minister and participated in many Spiritual Retreats.
In retirement, Irma was a Hospice Chaplain. She had a servant’s heart, helping anyone she could and spreading the word of god. She loved attending church and singing her heart out. Irma had a big personality with a beautiful soul. She is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Belinda would like to thank all the hospice caregivers and workers that have helped her mother over the past 7 years. Irma loved them so very much and they were all very dear to her heart. Special thanks to Guille Galarza and Juanita Prezatapia for helping and loving my mom, Irma, over these past few years. We couldn’t have gotten through everything without you.
Irma is now in her heavenly home with her loved ones who have preceded her in death including her parents; husband, Robert Bonilla; son, Rupert Chavez; sisters, Beatrice Cervantes, Elsa Barrera, and Della Rodriguez Vielma; and brother, Ray Rodriguez; nephew, Richard Vielma, Jr.; nephew, Henry Cervantes.
