Ismael Ponce

Ismael Martinez Ponce, devoted husband, father, and grandfather received his wings on June 22, 2024. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico to Carlos and Maria Concepcion Ponce on January 11, 1960. Ismael was a longtime Round Rock, Texas resident and retired from Pflugerville Independent School District after nearly 20 years of service.

He is survived by Margarita Ponce, his beloved wife of 47 years, and his children Armando, Sr. (Elena), Mario (Ashley), Anna (Peter), Estevan (Brittany), Gabriela (Sergio), and 15 grandchildren. He’s also survived by his siblings, Cruz Ponce, Carmela Ponce, Francesca Ramirez, Fernando Ponce, Ralph Ponce & Magdelena Ponce, along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

His grandsons will serve pallbearers: Armando Ponce, Jr., Antonio Delarosa, Noah Torres, Nathaniel Delarosa, Christian Delarosa, & John Mannino. Honorary Pallbearers: Ryan Ponce & Michael Ponce.

Ismael was a man of few words but many talents. He was a talented guitarist who enjoyed entertaining family and friends during gatherings, and an avid boxing fan who boxed during his youth. He was also an accomplished landscaper and was always ready to lend a helping hand to everyone he met. His warmth and kindness radiated to everyone he encountered and his loving presence is deeply missed. The strong bonds he and Margarita built with his children and grandchildren provide the foundation of their family legacy. This loving foundation is the core of their support during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 at Weed-Corely Fish Funeral Home – South Austin, 2620 S. Congress Ave., Austin, Texas, 78704.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on, July 6th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E. 2nd Street, Austin, TX. 78702.
