

Garcia, Israel D., Sr., Age 73 of Austin, Texas passed away September 17, 2017. He is the son of Eufemia Garcia who survives him and who lives in McAllen, Texas. He was the husband of Alice Garcia who he married on September 18, 1999. Alice had four children who affectionately called Israel, “Dad”. Those children are Diane I. Kromko, Christine M. Scott, Richard Muniz, and Laurie Wood. Prior to his marriage to Alice Garcia, he was the husband of Gloria Reyes. He is survived by his sons, Israel Jr., of Bellaire, Texas, Edward Garcia of Plano, Texas and Adrianna Ledesma of Pflugerville, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of Israel Garcia, III, Almeria Garcia, Hallie Garcia, Hunter Garcia, Grant Garcia, Meghan Garcia, Ashley Castro and her wife Karen Nabors, Amanda Trejo and Amarissa Ayala. Mr. Garcia is also survived by his Great – Grandchildren, Kasyn Garza and Kalena Garza. Mr. Garcia is also survived by his sisters Bella Diaz of Houston and Ludivina Ortiz of California and brother Rene Garcia of Austin. Mr. Garcia was a beloved boxing and baseball coach in Austin, Texas during the 1970s. Mr. Garcia was the head coach to many championship teams at the North Austin Optimist Club and held a baseball camp for kids every summer for many years. Mr. Garcia was a lifelong member of Austin Carpenters & Millwrights Local 1266. Mr. Garcia formed “Design and Drywall” in the late 1970s and operated the company into the late 1980s. During that time, Mr. Garcia and his employees worked on many construction projects throughout the City of Austin. His generosity, his smile, joy and love are his legacy to all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. followed by a 7:00 P.M. Rosary in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, located at 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas, 78752. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30P.M. at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, located at 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas, 78757 with Interment to follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas, 78660.
