

Jacqueline Thurman passed from this life February 8, 2008 surrounded by her family. Jackie was born March 28, 1925 to Zelma and Bammie Teague. She spent her childhood in Moody, Texas and graduated from Moody High School. In 1942, she moved to Austin and enrolled in the University of Texas where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Home Economics. After graduation, she taught in the Home Economics Department at the University of Texas until 1960 when she married Judge Mace Thurman, Jr. Jackie was a member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Texas and served as its President. She was involved in community affairs as an active member of Junior League of Austin, Junior Helping Hands, and numerous other clubs and organizations. Jackie's passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Her family will miss her smile, love of life, and caring heart. Jackie had a large circle of close friends because she always looked for and found the good in everyone she met. She was a source of love and encouragement for many. She is survived by her husband, Judge Mace B. Thurman, Jr.; their five children, Mary Reeves and her husband Sam, Janice White, Glen Thurman, Russell Thurman and Camella Devine, Mace B. Thurman, III and wife Connie; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating the life of Jacqueline Thurman will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Tarrytown United Methodist Church at 10:00AM.
