James Carl Bounds, 61, of Spicewood, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, surrounded by his family at home. Carl was born September 3, 1952, in Tomball, Texas, the son of Clyde and Thelma (Howard) Bounds.
After graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School, Bryan, Texas, in 1971, he studied at the University of Texas at Austin. With his talent as a guitar player and love of music, he flourished in Austin, and was an integral part of the early Austin music scene. In the following years, he combined his keen intellect and artistic creativity into Bounds Construction Co., building exceptional custom homes and providing high-end remodeling services.
He was an artist, a musician, a craftsman, and an avid outdoorsman, yet he was so much more than the sum of his talents. His kindness and generosity was known to all that were fortunate enough to cross his path. While we are saddened by our loss, we are reassured that he is released from pain and all other earthly constraints, and now stands tall in paradise with those loved ones that he missed so dearly.
Survivors include Barbara Bounds Dobbs; his beloved children, Sarah Bounds and James Bounds; one brother, Robby Bounds; one sister-in-law, Cathy Bounds; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home located at 6300 West William Cannon Drive in Austin, Texas 78749.
The family would like to sincerely thank Ru Payne Coleman for his friendship, love, care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carl to the charity of your choice.
