

James E. Crozier January 28, 1926 May 4, 2004 James Eeds Crozier, better known to family and close friends as Jim, was born in Austin on January 28, 1926 to Robert Jesse Crozier and Beatrice Eeds Crozier. He passed away suddenly on May 4, 2004 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Robert Carl Crozier who was killed while honorably defending our country in World War II. He is survived by his lovely wife of 17 years, Jolene Owen Crozier. She was his partner, buddy and hunting mate and they shared many adventures together. She was very caring, attentive and helpful during the very long illness that preceded his death. She provided him years of true happiness. Jim is also survived by his sons, James E. Crozier, Jr., MD and wife Lisa of Winston-Salem North Carolina, Jeffrey L. Crozier and wife Cheri of Austin, daughter, Jaye A. Thompson and husband Lance of Austin and two stepsons, Robert C. Walker and wife Natascha of Austin and James E. Walker and wife Dokie of Harlingen. He has 10 grandchildren including one namesake grandchild, Robert Henry Crozier. Other survivors include his sister, Mary A. Nichols and husband Douglas, nephew Walter Nichols and wife Gail, sister-in-law Louise Lightsey and husband Jerry and extended family members Bobby Steiner and wife Joleen and Pat Paulson and wife Suzanne all of Austin. Jim served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a top turret gunner and crew chief on a B-17. He earned the rank of Tech-Sergeant. He was Reservist in the United States Air Force when he was once again called to serve in Korea. He served proudly and without reserve. Jim, a native Austinite, graduated from Austin High School and then attended the University of Texas after the war. He spent 35 years in the real estate business as a broker, developer, lender and appraiser. He worked for Harrison Wilson Pearson Real Estate, Realty Mortgage Investment Corp., Mortgage and Trust, Mutual Savings and Texas Bank. All of these experiences prepared him to work for and as a partner with lifelong friend Tommy Steiner, his son Bobby Steiner and Steiner Ranches for over 18 years. Jim was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 12, the Scottish Rite Temple and the Ben Hur Shrine. He was also a past director of the Royal Order of the Jesters. He attended the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Jim was always smiling or laughing and was positive in his thoughts. He carried business cards that described him as a Bon Vivant and Raconteur. It was said of him that you may not like what he says, but it will be the truth. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 5th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2004 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel followed by burial at Austin Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be John D. Beasley, Jr., Paul Rich, Noble Haden, Jim Gauntt, George Boyd, Jimmy Schwertner, Sid Steiner and Gordon Muir. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Steiner, Bob Lindsay, Charles Quist, Richard L. Meyer, Jim Murray, Nash Phillips, Matt Roberts, Grady Turner, Tom Callahan, Harold Wallace, Hubert Willis, Stanley Anderson, Tommy Goggan, Pat Paulson and the members of the Austin Bergstrom Community Council and the Seminole Rebels Barbecue Cook-Off Team.
