In a single conversation with Jim one would instantly say that he was a man of strength, wisdom and most of all faith for the Lord. He and Marie shared an everlasting, devoted marriage of 55 years. His children and grandchildren were his ultimate pride and joy. Overwhelmed with emotion, he would celebrate each of their accomplishments with tears in his eyes. Jim was a highly respected businessman and entrepreneur. His words were always carefully chosen, full of knowledge, and very precise. He was a very devout University of Texas graduate and fan. Jim was a charter member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in which he honorably built, along with two other churches. He was known for his giving heart and charitable actions. His "teddy bear" personality warmed the hearts of many.
He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Stella Fortune; brothers, Bill Fortune and Don Fortune. Survivors include his wife, Marie Anderson Fortune; son, Rex and his wife Sheila; daughter, Yvonne Fortune Landes and her husband Bobby; grandchildren, Shawn, Shannon and her husband Justin Cain, Lacee, Chance, Kylee and great-granddaughter, Brynlee.
