

James Joseph Breeding Jones, affectionately known as "The Good Jim Jones," passed away on March 12, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion, creativity, and kindness. He was born on June 24, 1949, in Waco, Texas, where he spent his formative years.
During his youth, Jim showcased his athletic ability by playing little league baseball in elementary school and later joining the high school golf team, demonstrating his love of sports from an early age.
Jim's academic journey led him to excel at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, where he graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration. During his college years, he co-founded a rodeo association, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. His career flourished as he contributed his expertise to the Tandy Corporation, where he worked in advertising and company publications, catering to accounts all over the country during the early days of the tech boom.
Ever the visionary, Jim was involved with various successful ventures during his life. He established a vegetarian restaurant and a merchandising company. He owned the Boerne T-Shirt and Trophy Haus nestled in the heart of downtown Boerne, TX, catering to the local sports teams, local businesses and even the school class shirts underscore his entrepreneurial spirit and deep-rooted dedication to his local community.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jim's passions knew no bounds. He was a gifted songwriter and musician, earning admiration from the South Austin music tribe and the Kerrville Folk Festival community, where he dedicated years of his life serving on the Cureville and Security teams. His soulful voice graced the South Austin Gospel Choir, and he poured his creative energy into writing screenplays and reviewing scripts for the Austin Film Festival. Jim also found joy in culinary arts, golfing, and following his favorite sports teams.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Doris Jones (née Breeding), and father, James E. Jones, both of Waco, TX. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren Dillon Jones; cherished children, James (Justin) and Jamie Lynn; and devoted sister, Denny Gay Patterson.
In honoring Jim's memory, let us celebrate his boundless creativity, unwavering passion, and profound love for life. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service for James will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral H, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
