

Shortly after his birth in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jim and his family moved to El Paso, Texas where he attended Coronado High School and was active in the FFA. After graduation, Jim worked in the oilfields of South Texas before he enrolled in college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He graduated from SWT in May 1986 with a BA in Accounting and worked for several accounting firms include Arthur Anderson in Houston. For over 23 years, Jim had been a financial analyst with the City of Austin first at Austin-Bergstrom Int’l Airport and finally with the Convention Center.
Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur R. Stancliff and Marian (Bell) Stancliff and his mother-in-law, Beverly P. Martin. Jim is survived by the love of his life for over 27 years, Susan Martin Stancliff and two amazing children, Hudson R. Stancliff (San Antonio) and Chandler M. Stancliff (Austin). He is also survived by his sisters, Jackie (Mike) Flores (Wichita, Ks.) Jeanne Stancliff (Calif) sisters-in-law Deborah (Neil) King (Austin) and Karen Wyndelts (Phoenix), nieces Skylar (Mike) Martinsen(Perth, Australia), Jordan Wyndelts(Tokyo, Japan) and Brent Wyndelts (Phoenix). Jim is also survived by several cousins and many dear friends. “The Stan Clan” would like to thank Jim’s wonderful care givers Rosa, Samantha and Amanda, you all will always hold a special place in our hearts. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Austin and Christopher House for making Jim’s last few weeks with his family and friends so special. The loving care you gave all of us during this difficult time will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Third Coast Studio in Port Aransas, Tx. on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Come share your favorite memories of Jim and listen to his favorite ATX Tom Petty cover band, The Damn Torpedo’s. Donations in Jim’s memory can be made to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House or to The Stan Clan, our team for the 2015 Head for the Cure Central Texas race on Sunday, March 29 at www.headforthecure.org.
The children and I want to express our deepest appreciation to our family and friends who helped us during this difficult time. Your love and support lifted our hearts and kept us so strong, we are truly blessed.
...And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voice ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she come!” And that is dying.
