Jim was born February 4, 1968 in Woodbury, New Jersey. He required immediate, life-saving surgery, the first of many health challenges in his life. He was a sweet, gentle soul who was adored by his family and his many friends.
Jim cleaned offices as part of a sheltered workshop. He was an avid participant in The Special Olympics where he competed in many activities such as swimming, track, horseback riding and bocce ball. He also traveled around the world to such places as Norway, Taiwan, Australia the United Kingdom and more.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family: parents Betsy and Jerry Vanderbilt, sister Cathy Gearhart, brother Bill Vanderbilt, his extended family Bob Gearhart, America Vanderbilt, nieces Christina Aquilina and Emilee Vanderbilt, nephew Robert Gearhart, great-nieces Audrey Aquilina and Ariana Aquilina, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
