Ms. Sheffield is preceded in death by her mother, Joan Scott, her father, J.D. Strickel, and her brother, Jeff Strickel. She is survived by her two sons Austin Bernay Sheffield and Johnson Colby Sheffield; her siblings Sterling McSwine and Linda Strickel Godinez; and many other family members and friends.
A native Austinite, Jan attended the University of Texas at Austin, receiving her Bachelors degree in Business Administration. She made many lifelong friends while attending the University of Texas; and together they shared fond memories and adventures that lasted until her passing.
After college, Jan's vivacious spirit introduced her to many new friends from Continental Airlines to Amway in Sydney, Australia. Through all of her adventures and fun, though, her true purpose and passion was raising her two boys. She cared deeply for them and would do anything to protect them.
Jan was the most loving and caring person. She was full of energy and spirit, loved playing board games and spending time with friends and family. More than anything, she loved to sit around with family telling jokes, sharing stories, and creating new memories with the ones she held dear. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious. She will be truly missed.
Jan affected a lot of people in her short time with us and she will leave a void that can never be filled. We must remember her, as she was, an imperfect human, with both beauty and flaws. It has been a roller coaster of emotions since her passing from sadness, to guilt, to anger, to fond memories, but above all else love and laughter.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish North Lamar Chapel, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78705
Please join us in celebrating Jan Louise Strickel Sheffield's life.
