

Jay was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Friends Central School. He holds degrees in Early Childhood Education – a Bachelors and Masters from Temple University in Philadelphia, and is a Doctoral Candidate from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Jay is survived by his partner of 22 years, Richard Kline of Austin; his mother, Hannah Breitman, (pre-deceased by his father Harry) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and his brother, Frank (and wife Carla) of Havertown, Pennsylvania. Other survivors include: Richard's mom, Rosemary Kline of Kansas City, Kansas; Jim Kline (and wife Cathy) of Reno, Nevada, Carl Kline, Jr. (and wife B) of Overland Park, Kansas, Bridget Coluccio (and husband Ron) of Springfield, Missouri, Carnie Kline of Kansas City, Missouri; nephews, Harrison Breitman, Collin Breitman, Brett Coluccio, Jeff Coluccio, Carl Kline III, Corbin Kline, Cranston Kline; and niece, Kendall Breitman.
Before moving to Austin in 2005, Jay made his home in Washington, DC and New York.
Jay devoted his entire professional career to Education; as an adjunct professor of Case Management at The George Washington University; in the classroom at Fairfax County (Virginia) Public Schools for children with hearing disabilities and other special needs; as a Curriculum Specialist for Classroom Connect, Houghton-Mifflin-Harcourt, Earobics, and since 2008 with Compass Learning.
Jay was a kind, caring, loving man, and brought a laugh or a smile with him everywhere.
Burial took place in Philadelphia on September 11. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 27 at 7 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar.
In lieu of flowers, Richard requests that donations be made in Jay's name to "No Kid Hungry" to help end childhood hunger in America.
