Jean Rogers Bringol, 83, peacefully entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 26, 2024. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Ronald Bringol of 43 years who went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2006. Her devotion to her family, friends and clients, as well as her firm belief in Jesus Christ, was the foundation of all she did as she sought to serve Him faithfully with her life. She touched, served and ministered to, literally, thousands He brought across her path over many years. In her private life, she lived with a consistent and grateful heart for life’s basic and simple blessings. Being “Mom” and “Mamo” truly brought her the greatest joys of her life.
Jean was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on February 13, 1941 to the late James Thomas Rogers, Sr. and Laura Colvin Rogers of Dubach, Louisiana. She grew up in the tiny town of Dubach, but God had other plans for Jean’s life. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1963 with a BA in Sociology & Psychology before marrying Ron and moving to Dallas, then later to the Austin area. In 1979, Jean received her Master of Science in Community & Regional Planning degree from the University of Texas, Austin, and began making her mark in the days of early Austin development and city planning.
But by the 1980’s, as a result of her prayers, God began to call Jean into a lifetime of ministry and counseling. In 1985, Ron and Jean, along with 15 others, started Hill Country Bible Church in northwest Austin. For nearly 40 years, Jean served in, as well as started, a number of ministries at Hill Country. Her faithful leadership and shepherding roles in more than a half dozen ministries, over many decades, truly blessed those also participating. Many of them were lovingly encouraged, mentored and equipped by her to answer God’s call on their own lives, with many privileged to be able to come alongside to serve the Lord with her over many years.
In 1988, she started Lake Creek Christian Counseling Center, followed by launching Jean Bringol & Associates, where she offered counseling and coaching with a Christian perspective. Early on, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor. Jean’s “heartbeat” was, “To bring hope to the hopeless & encourage the discouraged,” and she did that so faithfully, that with the Lord’s strength, she counseled those in need up until the month before her passing. Her loving impact on her family, friends, counselees, neighbors, church and community will never be forgotten.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Laura Anita Barge, husband Bill Barge and children, Will, Grace & Paul Barge; Daughter, Amy Jean Kingman, husband Robert Kingman and children, Shawn & Audrey. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Rogers and his wife, Linda. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, James Thomas Rogers, Jr. and Benjamin Rogers. Jean also had two baby sisters, Joan, who died at only 5 days of age and her dear Laurie Ann, who was born when Jean was 19 years of age, but tragically only lived for 18 months.
Jean’s Memorial Service to celebrate her extraordinary life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 RR 620 North, Austin, Texas 78750 with reception following. Pastor Tim Hawks will be officiating the service. The family gratefully declines flowers and asks that you donate, instead, to your favorite charity in her memory.
