
Jean S. Dunn Jean Pauline Sheely Dunn, age 85, passed away on September 24, 2007. She was born September 6, 1922, in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up there. She had lived in Austin since 1983. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES during World War II. In 1945 she married Thomas Richard Dunn, a major in the Army Air Corps, and they were married for 39 years. She was active with her family and community in Houston, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1950s and 1960s. She and Tom moved to Durango, Colorado in the 1970s where they built their own house. After Tom died, she enjoyed traveling and continued her love of music, art, reading, and nature. She was also an active volunteer in Austin, delivering for Meals on Wheels for 23 years and volunteering at Seton Hospital, Faith United Methodist Church, and Austin Visitors and Convention Bureau. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Dunn Tedter, Katie Dunn, and Peggy Baxter, son-in-law, Ross Tedter; grandson Ethan Dunn of Austin; granddaughters and their families, Sara and Mike Aubele of Vancouver, Washington and Heather and Chris Moos of Houston, and 5 great-grandchildren. She also survived by her sister, Helen Sheely Marshall of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Helen Sheely, Virginia Sheely; and nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held in Austin. The family suggests contributions to Austin Meals on Wheels and More or Hill County Youth Ranch, Hunt, Texas.
