Jerry James Dow Jerry James Dow of Austin, Texas, after a long, courageous battle with carcinoid cancer, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 4, 2003. He was 66. Jerry was born on January 15, 1937 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Marguerite Truly Dow and Alfred Red Dow. He later moved with his mother to San Angelo, TX, where he graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1955. In 1959, he graduated from Baylor University with a B.S. in physics, and in 1964 he received a Masters degree in engineering from U.C.L.A. Jerry married Annette Virginia Kerley on May 31, 1958, in Dallas, Texas. They moved to Austin in 1966 when Jerry went to work for Tracor as an acoustical engineer. In Austin, Jerry became a fanatical jogger. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting and camping with his sons. He and Annette became anglophiles and made several trips to England and Scotland. After his retirement in 1999, Jerry and Annette spent their summers in Estes Park, Colorado. In addition to Annette, his wife of 45 years, Jerry is survived by his three sons: Luke of Austin; Greg and his wife Sharon of Kingwood, and their two sons, Collin and Zach; and Matt and his wife Lisa of Austin, and their two daughters, Clara and Emily. Jerry is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Colonel John and Margaret Bales of San Antonio. Jerry loved unconditionally, and he adored his wife Annette. He taught his sons about communication, respect and affirmation. His insight will be missed.
