

Jo Allie (Black) Pelton of Austin, Texas passed to her heavenly home on May 4, 2026 at the age of 91. She was born August 15, 1934 in Red Rock, Texas and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of seven. She graduated from W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1952.
Jo married Bernie Bray in 1954, and worked alongside her husband for many years as owners of Airline Wrecker and Airline Ambulance Service.
Following a move to Austin, Texas in 2003, she was active in Westoak Woods Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allie W. Black and Mabel Mobley, her first husband, Bernie Bray, and her second husband, James Pelton, all of Corpus Christi, Texas.
She is survived by three children, Bernie Don Bray II of Corpus Christi, Texas, Vikki Susan DeLima of Manchaca, Texas, and Christy Anne Guest of Krum, Texas along with five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four loving stepdaughters and their families.
Jo loved people and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed feeding people and was a wonderful cook. She also loved playing card games with her friends. She was a kind and generous person who was always willing to help anyone in need.
The family would like to thank Rosa Perez for her selfless devotion to and love for Jo over the last several years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
Please join us for a reception immediately following the service at 12012 Bluebonnet Lane, Manchaca, Texas.
A brief graveside ceremony will be held at Seaside Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
