Joan Dorothy Tucker

She is survived by Bill Tucker, her husband of 55 years, her brother Pastor Wayne Young, her sister Janice Young, two sons, Wesley Tucker and Scott Tucker, two grandchildren, Wayne Tucker and Ellie Tucker and two great-grandchildren Alice Tucker and Wyatt Tucker.

She attended Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. In 1969, Joan met the love of her life, Bill Tucker in Orlando, Florida.

Joan was a dedicated Preschool teacher in Austin at Peace Lutheran Church and Triumph Love Lutheran Church. She was devoted to supporting her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, taking care of her grandson, watching TV, and being active in her church.

IBM transferred Bill from Florida to Austin, Texas in 1977. IBM utilized Bill’s knowledge of computers and technology, which resulted in Bill traveling around the world teaching IBM employees on how to use the IBM personal computer. Joan enjoyed traveling with Bill, especially to destinations in Europe.

A visitation for Joan will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM, also at Chapel of the Hills. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
