

Our dearest Joe Velasquez De La Rosa, 83, of McNeil, TX. was called upon by our dear Lord to take his final resting place with his beloved wife, Dora De La Rosa on Friday, June 25, 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carpio and Maria Velasquez De La Rosa, 8 brothers and sisters and his son, Wiley Guerrero. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Louise Escobedo and husband Abel Escobedo, Jr.; Lupe Gomez, and Carla De La Rosa and her companion Elizabeth Lemke, son Ron De La Rosa and his wife Olga De La Rosa. Grandchildren include: George Ramon, Greg Ramon, Yvonne Hinkle, Jeffrey Ramon, James Gomez, Jerome Gomez, David Guerrero, Terryann Guerrero, and Veronica De La Rosa as well as numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, followed by 18 years in the National Guard. He then became a committed employee for Bergstrom Air Force Base for 34 years where he retired civil service. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Elizabeth Lemke for the joy, comfort and love she gave him during his last few years. She could always bring a smile to his face and for that we will be eternally grateful. Recitation of Holy Rosary will take place Tuesday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Services will take place Wednesday, June 30 at St. Ignatius at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons and great-grandson, Michael Soto, will be the Honorary Pallbearer. Dear Dad and Grandfather: The time has come to say goodbye, close your eyes and dont worry theres nothing to fear. Your suffering became too much to bear, the family understands why you cant be here. For those of us who are left behind, you will forever be a cherished memory in our minds. Each day that passes we will never forget all the hugs and kisses we were showered with, all the warm plates that filled our souls, your loving heart we will forever hold. With open arms she patiently awaited, it was this moment you forever anticipated. Together again, smiling at us from above we can all rest easy knowing youre with your eternal love.
