Joe Faught Joe Faught passed away quietly on Monday, January 17, 2005, in the presence of loved ones after a five-year, courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer. He was 58. Born on April 20, 1946 in Lampasas, Texas, to Floyd and Ethel Faught, Joe was the sixth of eight children. After graduation from Lampasas High School, he served three years during the Viet Nam War aboard the USS Ticonderoga. Joe opened his own florist business in Lampasas and for more than twelve years he created beautiful floral designs, earning his Texas Master Florist credentials. In 1992, Joe came to Austin where his work soon came to be admired and respected. After working as a floral designer for Northwest Hills Pharmacy and Florist and then with R.A. Lewis at Tarrytown Florist, Joe decided to open Faught Floral Design in October, 2001. Despite having a painful form of cancer, Joe was actively involved until he sold his business last July. Joe had the special gift to envision what his clients wanted and then deliver even more. He thoroughly demonstrated the art of customer service, even after he became homebound. He appreciated the many phone calls and notes from those who started out as clients but soon became good friends. Throughout his illness, Joe always kept a positive attitude and encouraged many who were also cancer patients. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Faught; a brother, Ray, and a favorite niece and his special angel, Angie. Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Suzanne; daughter, Jennifer; and son, Michael. He is also survived by his mother, Ethel; brothers, Wayne and wife Clara, Doug and wife Narelene, and Robert and wife Janet; and sisters, June Burns, Ladell Faught, and Janell Porter and husband, Jerry. Joe had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Janet Gage; and three brothers-in-law, Steve Gage III and wife Cindy, Billy Gage and wife Cindy, and Rick Gage. The family is deeply appreciative of the care provided by Dr. John Costanzi and his nurses, Marta and Rose, as well as from Hospice Austin, especially Sharon and Wathy. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 19, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Chapel followed by graveside services at 4:00 p.m. at Nix Cemetery, Lampasas, Texas.
