

John Milton Armistead passed away April 24, 2010 at age 80. He was born June 1, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised in Marshall, Texas where he graduated high school. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Chemical Engineering. His entire career was spent with Gulf Oil Corporation, taking him and his family from Port Arthur, Texas to Pittsburgh, PA., then to Tokyo, Japan, Kuwait and finally Houston where he ended his career and retired to Lakeway, Texas. He spent his retirement years boating on Lake Travis, where he became an active member of the Austin Power Squadron. He also spent many years volunteering for the City of Lakeway as City Engineer, working in AARP’s Tax Counseling for the elderly program, and was an active member and usher at The Lakeway Church. He enjoyed the last two years as a retiree at Querencia in Barton Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Powell and Mary Johnson Armistead, and his sister, Martha Armistead. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stephanie Aden Armistead, daughter and son-in-law Jeanie and Bryan Anderson of Longview, TX, daughter Claire Armistead of Kodiak, AK, son and daughter-in-law Walter and Barbara Armistead of Paris, TX, grandson Nicholas Anderson and granddaughter Carmen Anderson of Longview, TX, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at The Lakeway Church on April 28, 2010 at 10:00am. Memorial Contributions may be made in his honor to a charity of one’s choice.
